my Village Idiot method is cheap and works well! The option that I used was to purchase an older used iPhone from Craigslist a few years ago. It was very cheap. I have no phone contract, no data plan, and no monthly payments. You need to d/l and install iTunes (for free) on your computer so that you can sync your iPhone to your media on your computer. This is how I've preloaded mine with scores of GD and LMA shows, hundreds of GD photos, and many GD movie clips......

The real competition is to see how many songs can get crammed into said amount of memory. Having 5000 mediocre sounding garbage I-tunes loaded on the device is the most important thing for the tone deaf generation. I'm guessing you're kinda new to the GD collect-it-all-obsessively world. Mars Hotel was one of the studio albums; it doesn't involve a show, although the re-release (or one of them) does muck it up with a grab-bag of tracks from various shows in '73-74 ... I'm a purist so I'd whiningly insist on Only The Original Tracks :-) Probably the reason someone might (rather sensibly) categorize one of the formal studio albums as 74-1-1 is just to put "the album/s released that year" in a separate categ......

I find if much more irritating when long sections of the second set are left intact as 1 track! There are plenty of instances where I might just want to hear one stellar second set track in the midst of a more mediocre 80s or 90s seamless second set. I came up with a workaround. Ripped the songs from the CDs to the work laptop and then emailed them using Yahoo's file service, to myself. Got home, retrieved the songs from Yahoo, and put them where I wanted (source, backup), then into iTunes. For those remotely curious, the collection now looks like this: Grateful Dead 33,207 tracks pre-Dead, post-Dead, side projects tracks 1,031 tracks Out of the 33,207 GDs, I extrapolated the non-songs, like Tuning, Crowd, Banter, Introduction, Take a Ste......

Hey all, I've created a free iPad/iPhone app for iOS 6.0 (and above) which allows you to browse and read most of the Archive's content and also allows you to make a playlist for MP3 and movies, to make it easy to listen to a bunch of different items at once. If you have a strong enough 'net connection on your iPad or iPhone, the streaming works pretty well. Not trying to spam, or promote the thing necessarily as it's completely free......

1. Forgive me but I know nothing about Podbean. 2. You can have 300 files in a single item but please be aware that is not what we would necessarily recommend. Since metadata is at the item level (not file level) having unique metadata for content that deserves it aides in search results. So we typically recommend that if the metadata is unique (different date, subject, performer, etc.) that a new item be created. Additionally, items can break if the total memory exceeds 10GB or 1000 files incl......

That shouldn't be a problem, as you should be able to upload any CD or file to iTunes; it's the stuff people buy (or rather, rent!) from iTunes which has DRM attached. A more likely issue would be the file format - iTunes can't import from (for example) FLAC files, so you'd have to convert them first, using (for example) Trader's Little Helper. A handy tip for removing DRM from downloaded files is to burn them to a CD and then re-upload them; from a technical perpective I understand that there......
